Facials

At Belle Beauty & Aesthetics we belive that the success of a facial is 50% down to the products you use and 50% the treatment.

Facials help to maintain healthy skin on the face, neck and decolletage.  Through the use of cleansers, steam, toners, facial scrubs, facial masks, massage, moisturisers and eye serums the face is left refreshed, hydrated and relaxed.  The results of a facial can be instantly recognisable but for serious skin conditions, like acne, further treatments would be needed.  Facials should be repeated monthly for longer lasing results.

Micro-Needling

Micro-Needling is a cosmetic treatment that involves repeatedly piercing the stratum corneum, producing microscopic holes, using sterile needles (0.1mm - 2.5mm in length) to create controlled skin injury in order to rejuvenate the skin.  These microscopic wounds lead to the release of growth factors stimulating the form of new collagen, elastin and neovascularization in the dermis. This treatment is carried out using a mechanical machine that causes less trauma to the surrounding tissue, giving you less down time after the treatment.  During the treatment phamaceutical corrective serums are selected according to the specific concerns you have.

Micro-Needling is used to treat and improve the following conditions:

  • Fine Lines & Wrinkles
  • Scars
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Rosacea
  • Enlarged Pores
  • Premature Skin Ageing
  • Stretch Marks
  • Hair Loss
  • Age Spots
  • Acne
  • Dull Complexion

This treatment is also known as Skin Needling, Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) and Percutaneous Collagen Induction (PCI).  Almost anyone can have the treatment providing there are no underlying health issues.

This treatment is the celebrities' best kept secret to flawless, glowing skin.  Stars such as Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt, Angelia Jolie and Kim Kardashian all rave over the wonders of Micro-Needling.

There are some things to avoid using / doing prior to your treatment:

  • Products with AHA's, BHA's, Retinol (7 days before)
  • Hair removal (7 days before)
  • Sunbeds and sun exposure (14 days before)
  • Fake Tan (7 days before)
  • Exfoliating agents (48 hours before)
  • Please notify me if you have a cold sore present (14 days before)

Microcurrent

What is Microcurrent?

Microcurrent is known to be the most effective non-surgical method to take years off the face. Our treatments take the efficacy of microcurrent to a new level by pairing it with gentle, restorative acupuncture points used on the body to rebalance the constitution. Along with award winning Éminence Organics skin care products, this combination provides dramatic results and is incredibly relaxing. Since microcurrent is sub-sensory, and since our gentle acupuncture is so stress releasing, most patients fall asleep during treatments.

We first need to understand what causes our facial skin to wrinkle and sag. As we age, our muscles become accustomed to certain expressions and tend to get stuck in these positions. A great example of this is the furrow between the eyebrows that many people get. At the same time, other muscles in our face are hardly ever used, and they begin to atrophy, which leads to sagging. An example of this can often be seen around our jaw lines, chins and necks where we tend to develop sagging or loss of definition as we get older. As we age, skin cells become less active, which leads to a breakdown of collagen and elastin. By the age of 45, the upper cheek muscles may elongate by as much as half an inch, dragging the skin over the cheeks downward to form plump little pouches at the corners of the mouth. The muscles under the chin become loose and the jaw line loses its firm contour.

There are 32 different muscles of the face that are manipulated during the microcurrent facial treatment. The treatment lifts, smoothes, tightens and tones. Probes are used to physically move the muscle into the desired position to perform muscle re-education – the process of lengthening or shortening muscles. Having muscle re-education movements performed in a series re-trains the muscles to maintain this new contour. Microcurrent treatment allows the muscles the necessary energy to keep their tension in this new contour.

Since you are re-educating the muscle tissue, it is crucial that you receive a series of treatments for results to reach their maximum potential. Once a series is completed, the results can be maintained by coming in every 4-8 weeks for maintenance treatments. Additionally, a series can be repeated every few years. If the full series of treatments is completed and maintenance sessions are continued on a monthly basis, results should last 3-4 years.

Microcurrent has been proven to provide the following:

  • 500% increase in cellular energy (ATP) to muscle cells leading to increased muscular tone
  • 12% increase in 20 days in natural collagen production to increase hydration and fullness
  • 48% increase in 20 days in natural elastin production
  • 39% increase in 20 days in blood circulation

What are the benefits of Microcurrent?

  • Diminished appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improved muscle tone in face and neck
  • Improved circulation
  • Cleared up or reduced acne
  • Lift of jowls and eyebrows
  • Lymphatic drainage
  • Sun damage treatment
  • Skin pigment improvement
  • Product penetration
  • Smoother, firmer skin
  • Hydrated and revitalized skin
  • Improved elasticity

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are a dermo-cosmetic procedure that consists of provoking accelerated skin regeneration in a controlled manor through the application of chemoexfoliation agents.  There are several different types that work on different layers of the skin.  The peel accelerates the desquamination of the superficial layers of the skin, which also stimulates the production of collagen, elastin and glycosaminogycan.  The result is your skin feeling firmer, smoother, clear and radient.

Chemical Peels can help to improve the following concerns:

  • Pigmentation
  • Fine Lines & Wrinkles
  • Dehydrated Skin
  • Acne
  • Scars
  • Enlarged Pores
  • Dull Complexion
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Stretch Marks

Dermaplaning is a method of exfoliation that consists of using a 10 gauge scalpel to gently scrape off the top layer of dulling dead skin cells in order to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion.

Dermaplaning is a favorite in the entertainment industry, specifically among models and actresses. It eliminates that annoying peach fuzz that cakes up in makeup and can be enhanced by harsh production lighting and high-definition cameras. Dermaplaning removes all the dead skin cells and also the facial hair, leaving the surface very smooth.  Dermaplaning also allows for greater penetration of skincare products and creates a flawless canvas for makeup to glide on smoothly.  Dermaplaning is often done before more invasive treatments to achieve better results.

Some of the benefits of Dermaplaning are:

  • Provides deeper product penetration.
  • Removes soft facial hair that traps dirt and oils.
  • Promotes smoother skin.
  • Safe procedure for removing dead skin cells and “peachfuzz”
  • Reduces the appearance of acne scars.
  • Diminishes the look of fine lines.
  • Works on all skin types.

Ultrasound

What is a Ultrasonic facial?

Ultrasound Facial, a cutting-edge technology which utilizes low-frequency sound waves for safe mechanical exfoliation, molecular penetration to combat signs of premature aging, reduce wrinkles, clear acne, manage rosacea and control hyperpigmentation.
Skin types and skin tones of all types benefit from Ultrasound Facial. In fact, clinical studies have established that Ultrasound Facial increases the efficacy of certain skin treatments by as much as 10,000 times. The most obvious extrinsic changes can be seen with acne and acne scarring, rosacea and aged skins that exhibit the most obvious visual clinical morbidity. The rapid response time for skin will vary due to genetics. However, because ultrasound has the ability to support cellular repair, increase collagen and Elastin, hydrate the skin and kill bacteria and viruses, dramatic results are seen and felt even after the first treatment.

Ultrasound Facial uses very high speed, low-frequency sonic waves that generate powerful micro vibrations deep within skin cells to stimulate your skin’s natural repair mechanisms. These sonic vibrations have the beneficial effect of cleansing and exfoliating your skin. The vibrations have many benefits including improved product infusion into the skin thus restoring elasticity, clearing of pigmentation problems & dramatically improving skin texture and smoothness. All this without using chemicals, dangerous acids or other harsh abrasives.

In essence, an Ultrasound Facial is a gentle, non-invasive and safe method of treatment for all skin types, that treats many skin conditions. Ultrasound Facials are particularly effective in treating the following skin conditions:

Acne

The ultrasound vibrations help to break-up follicular deposits of oil, dirt and dead cells — a veritable breeding ground for bacteria. Ultrasonic frequency has been shown to kill bacteria and decongest the pores resulting in cleaner, healthier skin.

Fine Lines & Wrinkles

Ultrasound Facial Treatment helps stimulate and promote collagen and elastin production for more youthful skin. It also helps with hydration. The “plumping” of the skin fills out fine lines and wrinkles.

Rosacea & Sensitive Skin

Ultrasound Facial is an excellent treatment for sensitive skin, even those with Rosacea. It is gentle and non-irritating. During the Infusion Phase, only products formulated for sensitive skin are used. No longer will your sensitive skin and/or Rosacea prevent you from exfoliating!

The Final Result – when used regularly along with a quality skincare home program, your skin will be smoother, healthier and younger looking.

Long-term results are achieved when Ultrasound Facial treatments and quality products are regularly applied together—and while one treatment may be all that is necessary to affect a change in some, a series of treatments may be needed by others. However, you will find the results are cumulative.

As a tool for rejuvenation, ultrasound is powerful: simple and effective. It will give you the immediate result without using harmful chemicals or exfoliates. The positive results from an Ultrasound Facial can remain for months after treatment.

Some more Benefits of Ultrasound Facial Treatment:

  • Improves skin effected by acne by healing acne scars by firming the skin and helps breakup scars
  • Counteracts the factors that cause premature aging by promoting Collagen and Elastin production to reduce wrinkles and fine lines
  • Ultrasonic vibrations kill bacteria and viruses
  • Restores skin to a smooth, youthful glow

High frequency

What is a High Frequency facial?

The high frequency facial is a skin care treatment used by professionals to help treat and prevent stubborn acne, shrink enlarged pores, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, decongest puffy eyes, fade dark eye circles, rejuvenate the condition of the scalp and nourish hair follicles for healthier hair growth.

Considered a timeless and essential skin rejuvenating treatment by those the skin care industry, high frequency has been shown to stimulate cell renewal and improve skin care product penetration and absorption by gently warming the tissues of the skin.

The safe, gentle oscillating and oxygenating power of high frequency electrical current has been shown to enhance blood circulation, increase collagen and elastin production, eliminate toxins and acne-causing bacteria, encourage lymphatic drainage, exfoliate dead skin cells and improve skin care product absorption. The primary action of high frequency current is thermal (heat producing) and is characterized by a high rate of oscillation. Due to its rapid rate of oscillation, high frequency does not cause muscular contractions - instead, it works on the principle of skin toning.

High frequency facial machines and devices (traditionally referred to as "violet rays") vary in design and appearance however the underlying principle, technology, and operational functions are virtually the same. Most professional high frequency machines used in spas, salons and medical offices operate at a frequency of 100,000-2500,000+ Hertz (cycles per second). Compact versions of the technology may be purchased by professionals and home users experienced in the application of high frequency.

How does a High Frequency facial work?

High frequency facial machines work in conjunction with high frequency electrodes which are made of clear tempered glass and come in a variety different shapes and sizes to facilitate the treatment of various contours of the face and body. When the high frequency electrode is firmly inserted into the high frequency hand piece, a gentle alternating electrical current is generated by the high frequency machine which then passes through the attached glass electrode upon contact with the skin. This contact ignites the inert gas within the electrode which produces healing electrical light energy and unstable oxygen which instantly converts into purifying ozone. In other words, when mixed with the air outside of the electrode, the electrical current infuses the skin with rejuvenating oxygen molecules and a therapeutic zapping or tingling sensation is experienced.

In treating aging skin, high frequency current firms and tones by causing an immediate circulation rush to the skin in addition to subtle tissue warming. These functions cause a very safe and natural contraction of the underlying blood vessels and tiny muscle groups. The dilation of the underlying vessels pushes away toxins, while the cells enjoy a feast of increased nutrients and hydrating volume. This result is in an increase in blood circulation and cell renewal as well as increased production levels of Collagen and Elastin which soften and smooth away wrinkles, reduce pore size and improve overall skin texture.

The application of high frequency current to the skin also promotes a natural cleansing and antibacterial action that helps treat existing acne and prevents the onset of new acne. Clients experiencing cystic acne will benefit greatly from the deep penetrating germicidal action of high frequency. The skin is left feeling instantly energized, rosy, firm, refreshed and noticeably softer - even after just one treatment. The enriched oxygen molecules produced by high frequency machines are safe and have been proven to be effective in helping to heal and restore the skin's health. High frequency is used to treat a range of concerns from skin lesions, acne, waxing procedures and cold sores to fine lines, sagging skin and puffy eyes. Common areas of treatment include the face, neck and scalp but high frequency can be used on the entire body including the back.

Ultrasonic Skin Scrubber

Suitable for most skin types. This treatment aims to remove build up of dead skin, smooth rough texture, extract impurities and blackheads and provides a glow effect to the skin.

Water is applied to the skin and a Metal spatula featuring ultrasonic waves (28,000 vibrations per second) is used to gently lift dead cells off the skin. Whilst doing this, the water solution is pushed into the skin to flush blackheads, oil and debris from the pores. We then apply appropriate skincare product and penetrate this into the skin using the back of the skin scrubber. This allows the skin care to penetrate to a cellular level to deeply hydrate and nourish all skin types.

Treatment is suitable for most skin types including those with sensitive skins. It is most beneficial for the treatment of:

• Mild acne

• Blackheads and congestion

• Rough uneven skin texture

• Dull and lethargic looking skin

Treatments can be carried out once a week for 6 weeks or can be used in conjunction with chemical peels for more problematic skin types.

Galvanic

Galvanic skin treatment exfoliates and detoxifies the skin so that it feels healthy, bright, and relaxed. The electric current used in it stimulates the skin beautifully by enabling lymph drainage, which allows the skin to cleanse itself and draws out harmful toxins from deep within it.

How Galvanic Facial Therapy Works
The galvanic hand piece is used to direct a galvanic current of ions directly into the skin. These positive and negative ions act like a magnet on top of the skin’s surface, and will slowly push the product lying on the skin’s surface down into the deeper layers. The skin can then absorb the treatment within seconds and the electric energy also firms up, tones and tightens the skin during the session. Most sessions last for just 10-15 minutes, but are combined with a full facial treatment that can last up to an hour.

Galvanic treatments use very low-frequency impulses so there is no risk of burning or electric shock. The electricity triggers cellular turnover so that any damaged tissues can repair and heal quickly, and even though the procedure does not injure the tissues, it does ‘trick’ the cells so that they begin to undergo the healing process. Galvanic facial treatments have a proven track record in Europe, and have been used for decades as an anti-aging solution.

The galvanic gel applied to the skin directly before the treatment is also effective for toning up and brightening up the skin, and can help to calm down inflammed skin while stimulating the tissue as a gentle massage. The micromassage treatments stimulate deep under the skin’s surface, so the treated area will not be aggravated in any way.

Key Benefits of Galvanic Facial Therapy
Galvanic facial therapy is considered a complete skin reconditioning system and offers benefits for all skin types. It can be used to:

  • Heal acne scars
  • Eliminate fine lines
  • Reduce or eliminate wrinkles
  • Get rid of superficial scars
  • Buff and tone up the skin
  • Reduce puffy eyebags or the appearance of dark circles
  • Tighten up loose skin Even out the skin tone

There are two major uses of direct current in skin therapy:

  • 1. Iontophoresis
  • 2. Desincrustation

Iontophoresis (Anti-Ageing)

Using galvanic current on the positive polarity is referred to as iontophoresis. During an iontophoresis treatment, a positively-charged (acid pH) serum, gel or complex is first applied to the skin. The skin therapist then places the passive or inactive (negative) electrode under the client’s shoulder or into their hand. The positively-charged current is then delivered via the active ingredients deep into the skin via positively-charged ions or molecules.

This simple electrorepulsion is ideal for treating aging skin and hyperpigmentation, as it carries active age-fighting and pigment-controlling ingredients deep into the stratum germinativum where they can impact cells.

Galvanic on the positive polarity also has a calming and vasoconstrictive effect on the skin, helping to reduce sensitivity and redness, so don’t deny your Rosacea and sensitive-skin clients the benefits of this valuable technology.

Galvanic on the positive polarity has the following skin effects:

  • Acid reaction to balance skin pH
  • Tightens and firms tissues
  • Constricts the follicles
  • Decreases blood flow and sensitivity
  • Reduces edema
  • Attracts positive ions

Desincrustation (Exfoliation)

Galvanic desincrustation is a process that softens and emulsifies sebum and keratin in the follicle. It is by far one the greatest tools in the skin pro’s toolbox and can be integrated while also using warm steam on the client. Performed prior to manual extractions, desincrustation prepares the skin for safe, painless and successful removal of comedones and micro-comedones. It is the deepest way to clean the skin and remove congestion.

Desincrustation solutions have an alkaline pH and are negatively charged, so they require the direct current to hold a negative charge. The client holds the positive (inactive) electrode and the negative electrode (active) operates as the working electrode.

A desincrustation solution is applied to both the skin and the gauze or cotton covering the active electrode, which traditionally is a prong or tweezer, this is then moved over the affected area. The alkaline solution is drawn to the positive electrode in the client's hand or under the shoulder and the negative ions in the solution are repelled by the negative electrode, causing an alkaline reaction in the skin. This works on the theory that like poles repel and opposite poles attract. The desincrustation solution, combined with the action of the active negative electrode, results in the “saponification” of sebum. This alkali and sebum reaction forms sodium hydroxide (lye) due to the fatty stearic acids in sebum, reacting with the alkali to form soap. In the skin, the reaction softens and liquefies sebum, and this facilitates the easier (and highly-satisfying) release of even the most resistant blackhead, especially in hard-to-extract, "tight," finely textured, sometimes dehydrated skin. Following manual extractions, apply a purifying, calming serum and switch the polarity back to positive to adjust skin to an acid pH to close follicles, calm and soothe.

Galvanic desincrustation has the following effects and benefits:

  • An alkaline, skin-softening reaction
  • Dilates follicles
  • Increases blood and lymph circulation
  • Increases sensitivity
  • Softens compacted sebum and keratin within the follicle
  • Attracts negative ions

Carboxytherapy

Non-Invasive Carboxytherapy is a treatment during which a gas, carbon dioxide (CO2), is infused into the skin to encourage an increased flow of oxygen. Carbon dioxide is a naturally occurring gas in the body and as such it can not cause any allergic or other unwanted reactions.

This minimally invasive treatment can offer long lasting skin improvements such as:

  • Elastin stimulation
  • Tissue tightening and brightening
  • Skin regeneration
  • Reduction of dark under-eye circles
  • Improvement in circulation
  • Improved lymphoid drainage

What is the principle of Carboxytherapy treatment?

By infusing carbon dioxide into the skin, an acidic environment develops. This signals our organism to secure oxygen to the tissue in the treated region and accumulate natural growth factors (vascular endothelial growth factors). Within several days after the treatment there is an increased natural distribution of oxygen in the places of application, a completely new microcirculation is created, lymphoid drainage is increased and in this way skin regeneration is achieved in a natural way.

What does a Carboxytherapy treatment look like?

During the treatment, a Carboxytherapy Gel is applied to the face in an even layer. A Carboxytherapy Activator Face Mask is then pressed firmly onto the gel. The interface produces a specific amount of carbon dioxide, which is infused into the skin.

During the treatment the client/patient may feel a slight tingling and the treated area can become mildly red due to a sudden deposit of oxygen. Within 5 minutes post treatment, the carbon dioxide applied to the skin is completely replaced by oxygen. The client/patient can go back to their usual activities after treatment and no recovery period is required.

How many carboxytherapy treatments are required?

Depending on the desired results a series of between 4 to 8 treatments of non-invasive carboxytherapy may be required and the treatments can be conducted once every 7 to 14 days. The effects of a Carboxytherapy treatment are cumulative – with every subsequent treatment improving the results of the previous one.

After having a course of carboxytherapy treatments, the average effects last (until you need the next course of treatments):

  • about 2-3 months: age 50+
  • about 3-4 months: age 40+
  • about 4-6 months: age 20 - 40
