Gels

Gels are an overlay treatment to your natural nail plate, that has replaced the traditional nail varnish at the end of your manicure in recent years.  Gel nails typically last anywhere between 3-6 weeks depending on the condition of your natural nails and lifestyle.  Gel polishes come in every colour you could possiblly imagine and are cured under a UV or LED lamp which means they are completely "dry" at the end of your appointment.

BIAB (Builder Gel in a Botttle) is a stronger gel enhancement that is best suited to people who are prone to weaker nails or are more "heavy handed" with their hands.  This system is less likely to chip or lift due to the latest bonding technology.  This system can last between 3-5 weeks depending on lifestyle.

Hard gel is a system that is best suited to tip extensions. This is the strongest of all gel systems but unlike the others, this system needs to be completely filed off - not soaked.

Fiberglass or Silk is a system that allows your nail technician to repair split nails.  It doesnt matter how bad or how low the split is, it can be repaired with silk or fiberglass.  This system not only allows your nail to grow past the split but it also adds strength to your natural nail.  This system can be used under gel.

There are a lot of concerns that gels are damaging to your natural nails, but in fact if they are applied and removed correctly there will be no damage to your natural nails at all.

Acrylics

Acrylics are an enhancement treatment for people who have very short or bitten nails, nails that constantly split or for people who just want longer nails.  Acrylic nails are made by combining acrylic powder with liquid monomer, which then forms a semi-liquid ball that is then molded into desired shape and length.  Acrylic nails are exceptionally strong and with the right care can last up to 2-3 weeks before they need maintenance.

There are lots of concerns that acrylic nails damage your natural nails, this can be true in some cases.  This is depending on your lifestyle and the ongoing maintenance of your nails.  Damage occurs to your natural nails when the acrylics are caught in doors, knocked, picked or bitten off.  Some salons offer infills every 2-3 weeks but I was trained to remove all old enhancements (this is to avoid over filing and drilling into your natural nail bed at an angle as this will cause damage over time). This allows me to check for any potential damage and to apply a new set that is perfectly fitted to your nails.

Aftercare for your nails

Your new nails be it gels or acrylics are jewels not tools, so care and maintenance is required to ensure your enhancements last.

  • Use cuticle oil daily to hydrate and feed your natural nails
  • Use gloves for cleaning, gardening and washing up
  • Avoid extreme heat for the first 24 hours (sunbeds, saunas, steam rooms)
  • Avoid prolonged submersion in water
  • Avoid using your nails to open cans and picking off stickers
  • Always remove your enhancements correctly - do not pick or bite them off as you risk taking layers off your natural nails
  • Wash your hands after applying sun cream or fake tan

When your cells are functioning correctly they allow vital nutrients to be absorbed into your body, which in turn results in the elimination of unwanted toxins.

Your cells bio-energy can also be unbalanced by:

  • Poor diets – food additives, processed foods etc
  • A lack of fresh fruit and vegetables
  • Little or no regular exercise
  • Drugs and anaesthetics
  • Illness and disease
  • Stress and worry
  • Smoking
  • Alcohol

Any of these can cause poor nutritional absorption which will, in turn, stop the cells from functioning correctly resulting in the inability to rid the body of unwanted toxins.

Excessive toxins have many adverse effects on the body, which can include:

  • Bad skin, blemished or congested
  • Colds, flu and sinus problems
  • Lethargy and tiredness
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Bad breath and body odour

callus peel Pedicure

Don't just dream about pretty feet... Soft, touchable feet are a reality

A lot of us have calluses on our feet (especially the heels) which is caused by the pressure on our feet. Over time it the constant pressure causes the skin to harden and calluses to appear.

Many people with calluses feel embarrassed to wear shoes that expose their feet in public. What’s more, they can be painful, and in some cases, can lead to more extreme conditions such as bunions.

Why not book in to have your feet treated. This revolutionary four-stage callus treatment treats tough calluses and leaves your feet feeling softer, refreshed and revitalised! The results can be seen straight away.

How long does the treatment take?

It takes only 20 minutes – 15 minutes application and 5 minutes for the removal of excess hard skin. In extreme cases of hard skin, the therapist may decide to leave the patch on for longer – up to 30 minutes.  However, this is an add on treatment to your luxury pedicure.

How often do people use Callus Peel? How about the regular treatment cycle?

Callus Peel is to be applied on dry feet – so this is to be done before a pedicure. We recommend applying Callus Peel treatment in every two weeks However, the cycle might be changeable depending on the callus's condition.

Is it safe?

Yes it is certainly is. Callus Peel uses cosmetic and almost natural products only. The scraper is made from plastic for scraping of calluses – so there is no worry of cutting your skin.

Is it hygenic?

Yes, it is hygienic due to the following reasons:

  • Callus Peel Skin Softener (sachets) are individual packaged.
  • Callus Peel Scraper can be sterilized.
  • Callus Peel File has disposable/replaceable pads.

Does it hurt?

No it doesn’t hurt at all! In fact it feels like you are receiving a reflexology treatment.
